Current Newsletter

1st Hornsby Heights Scout Group is situated in Sydney's leafy northern suburbs.

The Scouting Association is a world wide association with a membership of around 24 million young people. A boy or girl may join the association at the age of 6 and continue as a Youth Member until 26.

As they grow, they move through the 5 sections, each running programs that are relevant to the age of their members.  Read our Latest Newsletter

The aim of Scouts is:Richard makes a final check of Robert Sutton's harness

To encourage the Physical, Mental, Social and Spiritual development of young people so that they may take a constructive place in society as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

This is done through:

Adventure, Outdoors, Challenge, Service, Games, Action, Fun, Hikes, Camps, Prayer & Friends - Don't forget to check out our photo album page to see the kind activities our members get up to.

Leaders

Each section has a number of adult leaders. The style of leadership is different for each section and reflects the growth in maturity of the youth members.  For example, at Cubs, the leaders prepare and run a program each meeting.  By the time they reach Venturers it is the youth members who are planning and running their own program while the leaders take on an advisory role.  Adult leaders are always required and it is a great opportunity for the parents to spend some quality time with kids passing on skills that will serve them for their entire life.

Be warned though, leaders also have fun!

A word about Sponsors

A Scout group is full of active young people and it takes quite a lot of funds to be able to continue to challenge Australia's future generation. There are tents, canoes, abseiling equipment and a hall that must be kept in safe working condition.

If you think you or your business would be able to help in a financial way, please contact our Group Leader to discuss a number of sponsorship options that may be of interest.
